UM Ventures Seed Grant

The UM Ventures, Baltimore Office of Technology Transfer (OTT) announces the availability of funds for translational RandD projects under the UM Ventures Seed Grant Program. This resource is designed to help bridge the gap that traditional funding sources may not provide in order to overcome barriers in the technology commercialization pathway. The UM Ventures Seed Grant Program is an initiative to advance university innovations into commercially viable technologies. A modest budget may be requested for the purpose of conducting translational research and development. The funds must be used for tasks that enhance the commercial potential of a technology (e. g. prototype development, key proof-of-concept studies). Projects will be funded at a level deemed necessary to achieve the goals outlined in the proposal. Eligibility:All UMB inventors are welcome to participate. All inventions must have been disclosed and assigned to UMBOTT prior to submitting a funding proposal.

UM Ventures provides unified licensing and patenting services and joint mar­keting to the business community to increase efficiency and productivity. UM Ventures is a joint initiative of the MPowering the State Program, bringing the University of Maryland, Baltimore and University of Maryland, College Park together to commercialize discoveries, and create economic impact by engaging partners in industry and social ventures. By encouraging our students and faculty, providing expert advice and business services, more discoveries will reach the market. By engaging directly with external partners we will bring new investment, expanded markets and more startup ventures. The UM Ventures internal Advisory Board was formed in August 2012. Its members are the Deans of Business, Engineering, and Computer, Mathematical and Natural Sciences at UMCP and the Deans of Law, Medicine, and Pharmacy at UMB. The Board is co-chaired by the UMCP Vice President of Research, and UMB Vice President of Enterprise and Economic Development.
